Our History – Learn More About Our Humble Beginnings

As a teenager, Chris enjoyed building and creating projects with wood and took every class available in high school to satisfy this passion. In 1990, a few years after graduation, he was offered a position to work for a locally owned construction crew as a subcontractor in the carpentry business. He and the team were involved in all facets of new construction carpentry throughout the prestigious West Chester area.

Over the course of the next 24 years, Chris was able to hone his skills while working for well-known builders including Toll Brothers, Bancroft Homes, and Dewson Homes, to name a few. During his time as a subcontractor, he quickly advanced to lead carpenter status with a specialty in Kitchen installation and was also the trainer for new subcontractors coming into the business.

As time passed, it became apparent that the construction industry was on the cusp of change as people were choosing to stay in their homes instead of buying new ones. By this time, Chris was managing and scheduling the construction team, which had grown to a 26-man crew, as well as continuing to work in the field whenever possible. He perceived this shift in the business long before the industry would begin to feel the decline and he began preparing to make a move.

Finishing Touch Carpentry was born out of his passion for custom work and a persistent attention to detail that tapped into his niche for creative design. Nowhere like the remodel, is there such an opportunity for these skills to converge, which is why in 2004, Chris chose to begin his own carpentry business specializing in home remodeling.

FTC is a full-scale carpentry business specializing in all the aspects of remodeling a homeowner can imagine. Our motto is Imagine…Design…Create, capturing the essence of Chris’s passion for creative design and attention to detail that make every project exceptional and unique.

In the twelve years since beginning FTC, our company has had the opportunity to develop a historical window restoration branch that affords us opportunities to work with architects within Lancaster County.

An appreciation for fine architecture drives the skill necessary to maintain historical correctness and beauty. Visit the website for notable locations FTC has been privileged to restore, including the beautiful Old Main Building of F&M!

We pride ourselves in being able to streamline projects from start to final unveiling! A fundamental service we provide takes place during the initial consultation meetings that follow choosing FTC as home remodeling contractor. Bridging that gap between wants, needs and dreams influenced by an available budget is a crucial component in every project. The wide range of products available coupled with imaginative design and individual tastes require a keen knowledge of all the above.
